Chrysalis - Our Behavorial Therapists Help Teens Change Their Lives
And help parents help their teens.
Any weight loss program can throw nutritional information at customers. Many do just that. Some make the information less painful to learn, and some don’t. Either way, it remains nothing more than information.
But most teens already know basic nutrition. What they don’t know is their own personal psychology for change – how to apply what they know and avoid recurrent patterns of unhealthy eating. And many parents are unsure of how to handle their teen’s eating habits. Does nagging work? Are their better alternatives?
If there is a cornerstone to our Chrysalis Program – a secret to our success – it’s our behaviorists.
Our behaviorists know how to help our adolescent clients identify and change their unwanted habit patterns, and we help parents learn the best way to support their teens. And most importantly, our behaviorists are available when teens need the most help in breaking the pull of old behavior – AFTER the weight loss phase.
We’ve never met a client who didn’t want their weight loss to be permanent.
And we know that’s what parents want for their teens as well – real victory.
What factors lead to successful long-term results?
The number one factor by far is remaining in skills class for at least 6 months following the weight loss phase. That may sound a little too simple, but experience has proven that a teen who is supported by the behaviorists, and their Chrysalis peers, and their parents is a teen that can break from the past.
A teen who drops a great deal of weight and jumps back into their old life unsupported, is a teen who is liable to wind up back at square one, blaming themselves for the relapse. We’re passionate about the work our behaviorists do because we believe they make the difference in our client’s lives.
