We’ve proven that our 2-Step program gives patients rapid, long-term weight-loss results.
As part of our efforts to verify our methods and quantify our success, we conducted internal outcomes studies in 2006 and 2013, focusing on our flagship 2-Step program. We’ve included simplified analyses of each study below.

Consistent, Successful Methods and Outcomes
In our most recent study, 92% of participants lost at least 10% of their body weight.
Over the course of this study, we tracked the weight, body mass index (BMI) and common health indicators of 93 participants (male and female). We’re excited to announce the following weight-loss results:
- 100% of participants reduced their weight by at least 5%
- 92% of participants lost at least 10% of their weight
- 25% of participants lost at least 25% of their weight
And while our patients were able to lose 2 to 5 lbs. per week, weight loss isn’t the whole story. We saw average improvements in every common health indicator that we measured, including triglycerides, blood sugar, cholesterol and blood pressure.

Our 2006 study participants maintained a 41 lb. average reduction in weight, supporting our track record of success.
We looked at the average results of 23 participants who had spent at least 4 months in Step 1: New Direction and 18 months in Step 2: Compass after 8 years of total involvement with The Hernried Center.
Compared to the next best long-term study of a different nonsurgical program, our participants saw a five-fold greater reduction in weight. Here are the average results from our study:
