The Hernried Center physicians must be notified of all medications prescribed by your personal doctor on an ongoing basis. The following over-the-counter medications may be taken if needed. If symptoms continue, notify your personal doctor.

 

HEADACHE OR MILD PAIN ELSEWHERE

Advil (Motrin) or aspirin

Tylenol – up to four times/day

Datril

 

COLDS

Nose spray

Nose drops (unless you are hypertensive) – as label directs

Dimacol or Ryna cough syrup

Antihistamines

 

VOMITING

Maintain fluids and bouillon

 

INDIGESTION OR HEARTBURN (note: all products listed should be sugar-free)

Mylanta

Tums (unflavored variety, no fruit-flavored)

Nupercainal ointment

Sitz bath

Preparation H

 

SORE THROAT

Chloraseptic spray (topical anesthetic)

 

BAD BREATH

Mouth spray such as Binaca

NO breath mints of any kind, including sugar-free varieties

 

You may NOT have amphetamines, tranquilizers or general anesthetics unless approved in advance by The Hernried Center physician. Do NOT use diuretics unless specifically prescribed by your private M.D. and approved by The Hernried Center physician.
